K&Co Culinary Class Lead

Denton, TexasPart-Time, Hourly$25/hour + Tips

K&Co is looking for someone who can walk into a room full of people they’ve never met and, within a few minutes, make them feel comfortable, excited, and ready to have a great night.

You do not need a background or education in culinary arts. You do need to be someone people naturally want to listen to.

Our cooking classes are designed to feel less like school and more like being welcomed into a great experience. Our guests come to learn something new, but they’re also here for date nights, celebrations, time with friends, and a night away from their normal routine.

Your job is to lead the room while making sure it never feels like you’re controlling it.

What You’ll Do

As a K&Co Culinary Class Lead, you’ll take ownership of the full onsite execution of K&Co cooking classes. K&Co provides the class systems, recipes, setup and breakdown checklists, teaching guides, timing standards, training, and event materials. Most food preparation is completed for you in advance. Light portioning, and final preparation is handled by you during set up, depending on the class.

* Set up the complete class before guests arrive. * Complete light food portioning and final preparation as outlined for the event. * Welcome guests and create a warm, comfortable atmosphere. * Demonstrate cooking techniques while clearly explaining what you’re doing. * Lead the class through each stage while protecting the pace of the experience. * Circulate and help guests individually while maintaining awareness of the entire room. * Read the room and recognize when a guest needs more help, more explanation, encouragement—or simply space to enjoy the experience. * Keep teaching and food-service areas clean, organized, and sanitary. * Follow safe food-handling practices and work responsibly around kitchen equipment and hot surfaces. * Manage the natural flow of cooking, dining, and the overall guest experience. * Use sound judgment when something unexpected happens, solving what you can and knowing when to ask for help or escalate an issue. * Communicate clearly and respectfully with the class assistant while working together to keep the event running smoothly. * Stay engaged with guests through the end of the experience. * Complete breakdown and cleanup after the event. * Complete a short post-class recap through the K&Co instructor portal so K&Co has a clear picture of how the event went and anything requiring follow-up.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for personality and discipline.

You should be comfortable standing in front of a small crowd and taking ownership of the room. You should be naturally warm, upbeat, and approachable—but also organized enough to know that a 10-minute demonstration needs to remain a 10-minute demonstration.

This role requires someone who can talk while working with their hands, answer a question without losing their place, notice when someone across the room needs help, keep track of time, and make all of that look easy.

* Strong stage presence and a genuine enjoyment of interacting with people. * Confidence speaking in front of groups. * The ability to give clear direction without making people feel pushed around. * Excellent time management and multitasking skills. * The ability to read people and adjust your approach without losing control of the room. * Calm, adaptable behavior when several things need your attention at once. * Attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture. * Ownership—you notice what needs attention and take action. * Mature judgment and respectful communication. * Dependability, punctuality, and respect for commitments. * Coachability and a desire to improve. * The ability to follow an established K&Co system while still bringing your own personality to the room. * A natural instinct to make people feel welcomed, included, and taken care of. * A high personal standard even when no one is watching.

Cooking, teaching, hospitality, restaurant, event, training, theater, public-speaking, or similar experience is helpful—but none is required.

We care much more about who you are and how you show up than whether you’ve ever had “culinary instructor” on your résumé.

A Side Gig That’s Actually Fun

This role is designed for someone who wants meaningful extra income without taking on another full-time job.

Starting pay: $25/hour + tips

Classes are scheduled in advance and take place during evenings. Individual events generally involve approximately 6–8 hours of paid work, including setup, instruction, breakdown, and cleanup.

K&Co plans to offer approximately 6–8 classes per month, depending on the class calendar and demand. Class Leads must be available to work a minimum of four classes per month to remain active in the position.

The starting rate is just that—a starting rate. K&Co believes strong performance should be recognized, and Class Leads will have opportunities for performance-based pay increases as they demonstrate consistency, reliability, growth, and excellence in the role.

Before leading classes independently, you’ll complete hands-on training followed by an event where you’ll take the lead while being observed and supported.

We’re not going to hand you a recipe and hope for the best. You’ll be trained on the K&Co experience and the standards for each class you’re approved to lead before you’re expected to deliver it independently.

The Physical Side of the Job

Cooking classes are active events. You should be comfortable spending several hours standing and moving throughout the space, setting up and breaking down workstations, bending and reaching during setup and cleanup, carrying reasonable event supplies, and working safely around kitchen equipment and hot surfaces.

K&Co will provide reasonable accommodations as appropriate.

What We Believe

K&Co believes people matter.

We believe high standards and genuine hospitality belong together. People deserve to be treated with respect. Leadership doesn’t require ego. Excellence doesn’t require treating people harshly. And creating an exceptional experience often comes down to noticing the small things other people overlook.

We put people first, hold ourselves to high standards, value the human skills that technology can’t replace, believe growth requires courage, and intentionally create the kind of culture we want to be part of.

Those beliefs shape how we treat our guests, how we work together, and how we represent K&Co.
